First Steps…

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Well the real estate agent has been notified and I’m moving house. Off to share a house which is something I haven’t done for over 5 years when I was studying in Melbourne. It’s going to be interesting but to over halve my rent and split my bills 3 ways the savings are going to be overwhelming worth it if I intend to leave for Europe in April next year.

This does mean I have been left trying to find a home for a unit full of furniture and the like. Most will be stored back home in the parents shed, which means boxing everything up to save it from possible water leaks and mice along with a rogue cow that may find its way in there. Some items like my old hand-me-down couch will being retired to the great couch god in the sky, while my table and chairs will be flogged off in the local rag for a fraction of what they cost me.

Compacting back down into one room when for the last 9 years I’ve been doing the exact opposite is going to be difficult but if it gets me to my goal its well worth it. In a way its forcing me to rid the excess baggage I’ve collected over time which is rather refreshing, a way to start anew so to speak, the beginning of a great adventure…

Blogging, is it for me?

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

I have found it really hard to stay motivated to blogging. With facebook and twitter being so easy to update and interact with my friends I never seem to make it to my blog. I think part of the problem is I can’t find a theme I like and just don’t have the time or skill to make my own from scratch. I do have some great articles to add up which I should do if anything just to make them easier to go back to when I need them (my bookmarks are out of control).

In other news I’m in the process of deciding what I am going to do with myself next year. I am really looking to live/travel overseas for awhile as I’m still young enough to get away with backpacking. Money is a problem with a loan on my beloved ute but I know it can be sorted out. My work life is well boring, the challenges are gone and feel I am grossly underpaid but as they gave me my start I don’t want to bail on them while the business is struggling.

So all this leaves me looking at a part time weekend job to increase the cash flow while I wait out the rest of the year. May also look at a basic bar course and a personal trainer course as other forms of work for the short term and also would come in handy while traveling around.

Life is what we make it and I am determined to enjoy mine after spending so many years lost.
